Join Our Church
Becoming a United Methodist begins by first becoming a Christian and committing to grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ as part of a local congregation. For United Methodists, being baptized and committing to actively participate in a church community are the first steps to becoming a member.
Baptism marks the beginning of our lifelong journey as a disciple of Jesus Christ. In baptism, we are initiated into the Christian church and incorporated into the community of God's people; the body of Christ. Those who have never been baptized will receive the sacrament of baptism before becoming members. Those previously baptized will reaffirm the Baptismal Covenant as part of their membership vows, When we join a local congregation, we promise to uphold the church community through our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.
On the third Sunday of each month, we have a casual meeting after worship with Pastor Robert for all those who are interested in joining our church, or who might have questions about beginning a relationship with Jesus Christ. We meet after the 9am Contemporary service at the round tables in the CLC, or in the Library after the 11am Traditional Service.
Meetings for the remainder of 2023 are scheduled on: September 17th, October 15th, November 19th, and December 17th.
If you are unable to come to a meeting after worship, but you would still like to join, please call the church office at (352) 567-5604 and a personal meeting can be scheduled.
You're also welcome to take this course on Being United Methodist from United Methodist Communications as an introduction on what it means to be a United Methodist Christian: What It Means to be United Methodist (umctraining.org)
